Cardiologist Appointment Frequently Asked Questions

Are these appointments performed at Millstream Veterinary Hospital?
Yes, Dr Jonathan Lichtenberger with Pacific Coast Veterinary Cardiology will come to
Millstream Veterinary Hospital for your pet’s appointment.

Why do I need to pay a deposit upon booking?
A $250 deposit will be required at the time of booking your appointment. This deposit is
the same fee that Pacific Coast Veterinary Cardiology charges should you cancel your
appointment with less than 24 business hours, as well as for no-shows. If you cancel
your appointment within this timeframe, or no show for your appointment, your deposit
will be forfeited.

Does my pet need to be fasted?
Yes, please do not offer your pet food after 8pm the night before your scheduled
appointment. No breakfast in the morning either, this includes snacks and treats. Water
is OK.

What should I do if my pet requires medications the morning of the appointment?
Please give all medications as prescribed, unless they are required to be given with
food (e.g. antibiotics). If you need to hide your pet’s medication in a small amount of
food to entice your pet to take them, that is OK, just please keep the food to a minimum.

What time should I pick my pet up?
We will potentially have other pets here for the same procedure and it is up to the
cardiologist as to which order they will be seen. Please plan to leave your pet with us for
a few hours. We will call you when your pet’s appointment has finished and will
schedule a pickup time with you.

When will I receive my pets’ results?
Your veterinarian will receive the report from the cardiologist within 24-48hrs of your
pets’ appointment. Your veterinarian will then contact you to review the results and
discuss the next steps. If you would like a copy of the report emailed to you, please let
your veterinarian know and we can send it to you once the veterinarian has discussed it
with you.

Is there anything else I need to do to prepare for this appointment?
We have sent your pet’s full medical history to the Cardiologist for him to review prior to
the appointment. If you have not done so already, please use the link below and
complete the Owner/Patient history form at least 48hours prior to the appointment so
that Dr Lichtenberger has all the up-to-date information needed.
